Social Media's Role in Online Marketing
Mention Social Media and your first thoughts are Facebook and Twitter. Of course those are the big ones but dig deep because there is so much more out there. Social Media is about connecting with others and not just friends. Developing relationships and marketing on a more personal level. Social Media is based on networking, referrals, and your personal expertise in your industry. Its about creating buzz about yourself and or your company. Social Media is not just for the big boys, sure they may have a whole department that is dedicated to online marketing and Social Media in particular but for the most part it is free or pretty cheap. Now, I know that PPC and purchasing online advertising space can get very expensive, and if you have the budget to do that then great! But, that's only one small part of online marketing. Social Media although it may not cost much to implement (unless you have staff to handle it) will cost you time. If you have every gotten heavily involved in face to face networking then you know what I mean with Chamber Events, BNI, and other networking groups. The same is true here. To create buzz you have to put yourself out there, join online forums, write and submit articles in your field of expertise, there are plenty of article sites to submit to, get listed in high ranking online directories, submit video ads to YouTube, create accounts for Google Maps, YellowPages.com, make sure you have a Facebook Fan Page and tweet on Twitter on a regular basis. These are just a few, you also have Social Bookmarking Sites, Press Release Sites, RSS Feeds and more.
Here is a list of high ranking Social Media Article, Bookmarking
Article Sites – suite101.com, ezinearticles.com, articlesbase.com, goarticles.com,helium.com, buzzle.com.
Bookmarking Sites – digg.com, delicious.com, technorati.com, stumbleupon.com, slashdot.org, reddit.com, fark.com.

Five Tips for Social Media in Network Marketing

Social Media Marketing |
2.Use a Professional Profile Picture: Do not use a random funny picture or inappropriate photo if you are on social networking sites for business purposes. Using a professional profile picture helps to build trust on the internet. Since you are not networking face-to face on social sites, people need to physically see who you are. Also, do not use the social websites stock avatar; doing so will decrease the trust value of your personal brand.
3.Socialize: Invite people who have similar interests (network marketing, business, etc) to view your profile, or become members of the same groups. Join related networking groups and pages and invite other members to become your friend. Email (do not spam) your networks and friends and take a sincere interest in their businesses as well.
4.Set Social Networking Goals: Set goals as it pertains to networking and set out to accomplish them. Social networking sites can tempt you into wasting hours of your time per day through non-productive games, chat and other areas. Decide how long you will spend on these sites per day, and what you would like to accomplish by being there. Avoid distractions, set goals, and stick to them.
5.Don’t Spam: Focus on building relationships, and once you share your content those who are interested will come to you. Constantly emailing, messaging or posting about your business with no other useful information will leave you with an incredibly small network and zero trust value. Spam does not work. Offer to link to other sites in your status, help others and share your expertise without expecting anything in return.

5 Differences between Social Media and Social Networking
By any Definition
Social media is a way to transmit, or share information with a broad audience. Everyone has the opportunity to create and distribute. All you really need is an internet connection and you're off to the races. On the other hand, social networking is an act of engagement. Groups of people with common interests, or like-minds, associate together on social networking sites and build relationships through community.
Communication Style
Social media is more akin to a communication channel. It's a format that delivers a message. Like television, radio or newspaper, social media isn't a location that you visit. Social media is simply a system that disseminates information ‘to' others. With social networking, communication is two-way. Depending on the topic, subject matter or atmosphere, people congregate to join others with similar experiences and backgrounds. Conversations are at the core of social networking and through them relationships are developed.
Return on Investment
It can be difficult to obtain precise numbers for determining the ROI from social media. How do you put a numeric value on the buzz and excitement of online conversations about your brand, product or service? This doesn't mean that ROI is null, it just means that the tactics used to measure are different. For instance, influence, or the depth of conversation and what the conversations are about, can be used to gauge ROI.
Social networking's ROI is a bit more obvious. If the overall traffic to your website is on the rise and you're diligently increasing your social networking base, you probably could attribute the rise in online visitors to your social efforts.
Timely Responses
Social media is hard work and it takes time. You can't automate individual conversations and unless you're a well-known and established brand, building a following doesn't happen overnight. Social media is definitely a marathon and not a sprint. Because social networking is direct communication between you and the people that you choose connect with, your conversations are richer, more purposeful and more personal. Your network exponentially grows as you meet and get introduced to others.
Asking or Telling
A big no-no on with social media is skewing or manipulating comments, likes, digs, stumbles or other data, for your own benefit (personal or business). Asking friends, family, co-workers or anyone else to cast a vote just to cast it, doesn't do anyone much good for anyone and it can quickly become a PR nightmare if word leaks out about dishonest practices. With social networking, you can tell your peers about your new business or blog and discuss how to make it a success. The conversations that you create can convert many people into loyal fans, so it's worth investing the time.
Social media and social networking do have some overlap, but they really aren't the same thing. Knowing that they're two separate marketing concepts can make a difference in how you position your business going forward.

Social Media and Networking
Social Media and Networking
Social media are distinct from industrial or traditional media, such as newspapers, television, and film. They are relatively inexpensive and accessible to enable anyone (even private individuals) to publish or access information, compared to industrial media, which generally require significant resources to publish information. Media is an instrument on communication, like a newspaper or a radio, so social media would be a social instrument of communication. Social media is a way for us to share our idea, photos, video, and you can find friends, business contacts and become part of a community or a bunch of different communities. Social media can give you information that TV’s and radio couldn’t.
Social media essentially is a category of online media where people are talking, participating, sharing, networking, and bookmarking online. Most social media services encourage discussion, feedback, voting, comments, and sharing of information from all interested parties.
Kinds of Social Media
1.Social news
2.Social sharing
